Coorg - the land of greenery, spices, waterfalls, acres, and acres of Coffee estate and shimmering streams. Coorg a landlocked district in Karnataka and is situated on the slopes of Western Ghats. The best thing about this scenic paradise is its people. Coorg belongs to a martial race and is famous for its hospitality. Coorg is a tourist paradise for nature lovers and bird watchers. India has over 1250 species and 25% of them are found in Coorg alone. One of the major attractions is Bylekuppe –India’s largest Tibetan monastery with 7000 monks and nuns. The gold-coated Buddhist statues in the monastery are imposing and unique, reflecting the rich cultural heritage of the Tibetans. There is another scenic spot famous for its elephant training camp. It is also an ideal place for angling in the swirling waters of the Cauvery. No wonder it’s called Scotland of India.
